David oversees all operations of University at Albany Hillel. This year, he was coach to Aviva, Debbie and Danny, meeting weekly, on an individual basis, with all members of his staff. He also facilitated full staff meetings on a weekly basis, a chance for all staff members to review successes and challenges, vision for the future, and eat Debbie's homemade muffins.
In addition, David organizes and reports to Albany Hillel Lay Board, a committee of community members who are invested in the success of Hillel. With their guidance, David is responsible for soliciting donations that will ensure the future growth of Albany Hillel on campus.
David is the connection to the University administration and liaison to the Capital Region Jewish Community.
Debbie is responsible for the administrative aspects of Hillel, including but not limited to the maintenance of the budget, collection of receipts, and assisting with the Lay Board. Debbie was largely responsible for the organization of the visit of Hillel's Accreditation team to campus, including the compilation of a binder which summarized Hillel and Jewish life on campus.
In addition to administration, Debbie works on developmental aspects of Albany Hillel.
Aviva is the anchor of Hillel's program staff. She acts as a liaison between the Jewish students and Student Life, ensuring that the students are advocated for within the large university system. Aviva focuses greatly on empowerment of Jewish student leaders, in order to encourage and foster leadership development. After the students take ownership over programs that they want to see happen, dates are plotted on a calendar; Aviva fuses these into the Fall and Spring semester Hillel calendars which are distributed to thousands of students, alumni and community members. Her background as an alumnus of the University at Albany and her prior employment at a local synnogogue give Aviva incredible local insight that works to help connect University at Albany Hillel with the Capital Region Jewish community.
