Albany has a very managable campus structure, even for those who are directionally incompetent like me :)
Most of Hillel's happenings take place on Albany's uptown campus. This is where the Indian, State, Colonial, Dutch, Freedom and Alumni Quads, and Empire Commons are located, as well as the Campus Center (the student union) and most of the classrooms.
Once in awhile, you will need to go to Albany's downtown campus. The downtown campus is where the Rockefeller College of Public Policy is located and where some Political Science courses are taught. This year, a David Broza concert took place at the large auditorium on the downtown campus called Page Hall.
HOT PROGRAMMING SPOTS:
Podium: When the weather is nice, the podium (right outside of the Campus Center by the small fountain) is the best place to table.
Campus Center Lobby: This is the standard tabling spot where everyone tables. The highest concentration of students pass between 11 AM and 1 PM.
Indian Quad Skin Room: Located right above the Indian Quad dining hall, this is a big empty room that is best utilized for tabling or programming right before, during and after mealtime. The students pass by in droves and if you draw their attention well, you can attract many newbies!
Quad Penthouses: Every Quad has a penthouse
suite which is a big room with a LARGE screen television, DVD and video game capabilities, and ping pong. These are great hangout spaces for programs.
NOTE: Indian Quad and State Quad are the two primarily freshmen Quads on campus, therefore freshmen targeted programs are often conducted at those Quads.
Campus Center Rooms: The Campus Center offers many different locations to hold a program.
For larger scale events, some of the rooms include the Ballroom, the Assembly Hall, Room 375 and the Terrace Lounge.
For smaller events or meetings, check out the meeting rooms on the 3rd floor of the campus center.
NOTE: There is a small fee for each room that is reserved and an additional fee for bringing in food.
