Eight Crazy Nights:
The students were able to get off campus and go see the new Adam Sandler film Eight Crazy Nights at a subsidized price!

Israel Program Highlights, 2002-2003
Israel Fair:
Both Hamagshimim and Tagar set up tables outside of the Campus Center. The Israeli flag waved, Israeli posters hung, and those passing by ate Israeli snacks such as Bisli and Bamba and Israeli Bazooka gum. Information about study abroad programs, Israel-advocacy, and upcoming programs were distributed.
Michael Eglash: Tagar brought Israel advocate Michael Eglash to campus and he addressed approximately 30 students. He spoke about Israel advocacy, creating a pro-Israel campaign, and countering the new Divestment movement.
Israeli Dancing: A Hamagshimim sponsored event in which students learned Israeli dances to Israeli cultural music; a freshmen student taught these dances.
Caravan for Democracy: This was the biggest program of the semester - Raanan Gissin, Senior Advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, spoke to a small body of Hillel student leaders, professors and later the press in three separate meetings. He then addressed a standing room only audience of 400 students and community members (with 250 individuals who could not be accommodated on a waiting list) about Israels role as the only democracy in the Middle East. This event sparked much dialogue on campus for several weeks before and after its occurrence. The Caravan for Democracy was paragon in terms of the excellence in communications between the University Student Life staff, University security, Hillel, Hamagshimim, and Tagar.
Israeli Movie Night: Hamagshimim showed the Israeli film Late Summer Blues in a dormitory penthouse suite; Israeli snacks such as pita, humus, and baba-ghanoush were served.
Professor Gideon Doron: The Chairman of the Political Science department at Tel-Aviv University was brought to campus by Tagar; he addressed the current situation in Israel, especially in terms of its relationship to the upcoming Israeli elections.
Hamagshimim Massage A Spa: Hamagshimim set up a table with free AHAVA product samples, raffles and massages as provided by a professional masseuse. Many students stopped by on their way to dinner in order to check out this event and escape from their stressful studying for finals.
Hamagshimim Beit-Café: Hamagshimim provided
Israeli snacks, music and Shesh besh as well as
much educational information relating American
President's Day to Israel.
Israeli Shabbat Dinner: Approximately 125
students enjoyed Israeli food, spoke Hebrew
(words provided on the table) and listened
to an Israeli Shabbat story; many even stayed
late into the night participating in an Israeli
song session.
Israel at Heart: At the next Shabbat, a group
of three Israelis came and shared their
personal stories and experiences with the
students.
David Broza: This Israeli superstar performed
his hits for over 300 students and community
members!
Michael Schneider - 12th House: In a follow up
to Caravan for Democracy, Schneider spoke about
leadership and Israel advocacy on campus to a
select group of student leaders.
Jewish Life Liaison Programs, 2002-2003
Mr. Deeds Movie Night: In this inaugaural JLL
the Adam Sandler film Mr. Deeds was shown in
the State Quad endzone. There was also a
Passover card making contest for a prize.
Bullseye Game: On reading day, a table was set up outside of State Quad. For a dollar, students threw a wiffle ball at a bullseye and guessed the number of jellybeans for a small prize. All proceeds went to raise money for Hadassah's Check it Out program, fighting for breast and tesiticular cancer awareness.
